Placemaking//
As the success of a space is measured by the number of people who use it positively, placemaking enhances a space, making it more active and convivial. As a landscape architect with an understanding of people and their connection to spaces, Antony collaborates with artists, designers and craftsmen to enhance outdoor experiences and moments. Many placemaking ideas and implementations promote people’s levels of happiness and physical and mental well-being.
Sugar House Island, Courtyard Installations. Stratford,London.
In 2020 I was approached by Rachel Wyld, the artist-in-residence at Sugar House Island, to assist and collaborate on enhancing a recently completed courtyard space with a mural and a verdant garden in moveable pots.
As someone who knows the site very well and understands the importance of art and placemaking features in was a a great opportunity to be involved in the ongoing legacy and public interaction of a site that I had worked on so closely for a number of years.
Working with Rachel, who works at the intersection of art and design, experience and engagement, was a very rewarding and complimentary experience and we look forward to working more with each other, including the Fieldgate Mansions project.
